• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Does "[move] if they Protect" imply Detect and such?
  2. Whirlpool

    Attacks and Abilities Guide

No, it lasts for three actions, barring sleep (Negrek ruling here). Presumably, the encore would make the entire combo be repeated, but not sure.

Do the boosts and decreases from sun/rain to Fire- and Water-type moves get multiplied to attacks' base power or the final damage?

How far can a Pokémon move when using Faint Attack? Would Stealth Rock/Ancientpower work in the tourney stadium?

Can a Pokémon use Endure to take reduced damage from a move, even if the attack wouldn't have knocked them out otherwise?

How would Foul Play work if the user and opponent were flying?

    Attacks and Abilities Guide

Fly can be used to hover in the air indefinitely; Bounce is more difficult to maintain, but you might be able to. There are no two-action moves in ASB; if that was explicitly mentioned, then it would just Disable the last used move.

    Attacks and Abilities Guide

It depends on the scale of the ref. Most of the time, severe is the highest stage of statuses, so probably not more, but probably not less either (i.e. infatuation doesn't lessen because of a repeated move, it's just that the repeated move looses its effectiveness after a while). Your Stunfisk...

Does Encore make a Pokémon repeat its encored move exactly three times or does a Pokémon gain an Encored status for three actions (i.e. when paralysis/freeze/flinch interrupts Encore, does that use an Encored action or will a Pokémon have to use the Encored move an extra time?) ?

    Attacks and Abilities Guide

Clones don't usually have the original Pokémon's abilities and attributes; they're more like identical images that move with the original Pokémon, so they probably would be identifiable. Not sure, though. And no, Illusion as a Pokémon can't be used in a 1v1 battle.

This. But think of Singing a Pokémon back to deep sleep. If you keep doing that, will it keep having the same effectiveness?
  12. Whirlpool

    Attacks and Abilities Guide

Yes, but it'll have less effectiveness as time goes on (same with paralysis and attraction; not sure about sleep).

    Attacks and Abilities Guide

I'm pretty sure Magic Guard will protect from it, yes. (unless it says "an Ice Beam will damage so-and-so", but regular arena hazards are still protected from by Magic Guard)

    Attacks and Abilities Guide

If the arena description says "[the arena] will use one of the following moves on the Pokémon..." (such as Hydro Pump or Leaf Storm), as opposed to "falling into a pit of lava will deal 4% Fire-type damage", I think.
  15. Whirlpool

    Attacks and Abilities Guide

Presumably you couldn't use them, as the "entire movepool" thing only extends to the legally obtainable moves.

    Attacks and Abilities Guide

Additional energy costs for consensually flying/hovering Pokémon are up to the ref; the Rules guide doesn't say it, at least. I'd think about 1-2%/action, though. Using the move Fly, though, is a whole different story; I'm not so sure about that (is flying down after staying up for a while...
  17. Whirlpool

    Attacks and Abilities Guide

No; all attacks do at least 1% of damage.
  18. Whirlpool

    Attacks and Abilities Guide

No to the Taunt, I think, since it's sort of hard to make somebody asleep angry.

Is Endeavor affected by the damage cap?
  20. Whirlpool

    Attacks and Abilities Guide

I meant more an example of when that would happen, but that's enough.
